- understanding texts in the source language and reproducing them correctly in the target language, using a style and register appropriate to the purpose of the text

- search rapidly and efficiently for subjects and terminology in both source and target languages

- mastery of terminology banks, computer-aided translation and terminology tools and the most commonly used software
